Lucknow: More police deployment, patrolling during Ramzan

LUCKNOW: Senior administrative and police officials did surprise inspection of Chowk area and took stock of preparations ahead of Eid and Akshay Tritiya which are falling on the same day.

Additional chief secretary home Awanish Awasthi instructed the police to meet religious preachers and seek their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony.

Awasthi ordered adequate police deployment and foot patrolling during Ramzan. He told officials to keep the police station premises clean and get the unclaimed vehicles auctioned to make space. “Police should be friendly with the people when they visit police stations. If police personnel are found guilty of crime then senior cops must take the strictest action against them,” Awasthi said while reviewing the functioning of Chowk police station. He asked cops not to give permission to any new tradition during the festivals and update the festival registers at the police station.

ADG law and order, Prashant Kumar, said police should take action against those disrupting communal harmony and nab accused who are in the list of top 10 criminals.
