Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is set to start as a host on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff show. However, the situation has sparked some controversy before Dave begins his new journey.
Portnoy will be making his college football morning show debut when Ohio State hosts Texas on Saturday, August 30, in Columbus. According to reports from Front Office Sports, Portnoy is a die-hard supporter of Ohio State’s rivals and was barred from entering Ohio Stadium on Saturday by Ohio State.
The team’s director, Ross Bjork, tried his best to keep the report from the university on Tuesday. He told Yahoo Sports that Dave will not be on the main desk on the Big Noon Kickoff show, as only individuals who sit at the desk will be appearing on the field. Portnoy called out Bjork for making excuses and claimed Ohio State is afraid of Michigan. He further made some controversial comments:
“You’re scared of Michigan and the only way you guys are ever gonna compete with us again is if you can look yourselves in the mirror and be honest with yourself.”
Why Ohio State Decided To Ban Dave Portnoy From Campus
The Ohio State seemingly banned Portnoy from the campus due to being a die-hard supporter of their bitter rivals. Ross Bjork seemingly did not take it well and decided to pull him from the broadcast.
Dave Portnoy bashed the Ohio State after they banned him. He claimed they can’t focus on Texas and recalled how they couldn’t let him be on the set. Portnoy explained how he still tried to be a good soldier due to the show on Fox.
Portnoy accused Björk of making excuses by giving long statements, as he was already aware of getting banned from the campus a week and a half before the news made headlines. The controversy has surely grabbed the eyes, and it could grow more in the coming days.
How His Response Highlights The Strange Turn This Feud Has Taken
Portnoy has claimed that he wants to be a good soldier and handle this thing professionally due to Fox’s involvement. However, the campus seems to want to do nothing with him after knowing about Dave being a fan of Michigan.
The Barstool Sports founder believes Ohio State has banned The Barstool College Football Show from appearing in Columbus. He called them out, claiming they were afraid of Michigan and can’t compete with them unless they look themselves in the mirror and show honesty.
Dave’s response seemingly is pretty strong and has painted a bad image of Ohio State director Bjork. The two sides of the story have the fans divided; however, it seems like Portnoy is on the right end of the stick.
