Lone Wales fan belts out anthem at Stade de France and French fans absolutely love it

A lone Wales rugby fan belted out a brilliant rendition of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau and received a standing ovation from French fans at Stade de France at the weekend.

Warren Gatland's Wales concluded their Six Nations tournament with a 41-28 loss in Paris but showed signs of real promise for the future with a solid performance.

One thing Wales always nails though is singing their national anthem, and one Welshman went hell for leather in the stands in the French capital despite being surrounded by Les Bleus supporters.

Ben Scales sang loud, proud and did our anthem justice at the weekend. He even spilt a bit of beer as he raised his scarf for the first harmonious repetitions of 'Gwlad'.

The French supporters all around him were absolutely loving his passion, laughing and smiling in the background.

He came to a rousing conclusion where "O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau" is virtually screamed out. Cue everyone around him joining in with applause and whooping.

Ben shouted "Come on Wales!", stuck his tongue out and saluted the camera with his pint in a quite brilliant moment of Welshness.

Channel 4 Wales and west England correspondent Andy Davies' clip has been viewed more than 125,000 times on Twitter, and the audience loved it.

"Excellent - credit where it was due from the French supporters around him," said one.

"Welsh rugby fans belting out Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau with one united voice, has to be one of the most moving experiences ever, and I say that as a Scot!" said another.
