Chiang Mai has reported over 80% readiness ahead of a key Unesco heritage assessment visit in August.
Chiang Mai Governor Rattaphon Naradisorn led a delegation to inspect seven key cultural sites on Friday as the city advances its bid to become a Unesco World Cultural Heritage site.
The sites were Wat Umong, Wat Suan Dok, Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phra Sing, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Jed Yod and the Lanna Architecture Centre at Khum Chao Burirat.
The inspections focused on readiness for the International Council on Monuments and Sites evaluation on Aug 3-8.
Mr Rattaphon said overall progress had reached more than 80%.
Chiang Mai Provincial Administration Organisation President Pichai Lertpongadisorn said coordinated efforts are under way across agencies.
