After a historic day for weather in the country, the temperature is starting to get back to "normal."
The Met Office reports the record-breaking conditions were carried from the south west of Europe, leading to the intense heatwave we experienced. Forecasters have explained now that the weather returns to breezy and showery, it's being dominated by the influence of the Atlantic.
Much of the country will be the same for the next few days, with temperatures plummeting to around 20C. Across Merseyside, cloud cover will thicken and there will be the odd shower.

Despite staying primarily dry, there will be outbreaks of rain from time to time until the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, the Met Office predicts the showers will stop and we will see sunny spells once again.
Dan Suri, Met Office chief forecaster, said: "Now that the extreme heat is behind us, the UK can look forward to more typical conditions. The introduction of moister air from the Atlantic is triggering the risk of thunderstorms and heavy showers for parts of the UK with a warning in force today for most of southern and eastern England.
"There’s a further risk of thunderstorms on Friday but by the weekend it’ll turn drier, brighter and increasingly warm in the south and east of England. Northern and western parts of the UK are set to experience relatively fresher conditions as it turns breezier and wetter here over the weekend."
