Tourist finds the weirdest flavor of cookies in Canada, decides ‘this is the last time I come to Canada’

A TikTok video showing a tourist’s reaction to a ketchup chip cookie in Canada has drawn more than 2 million views. The creator, who posts under the handle @itsazyo, filmed himself reacting to the cookie while traveling in Canada.

In text displayed on the screen, the TikToker wrote, “Bruh, this is the last time I come to Canada I swear what’s wrong with y’all?” The comment appeared to express surprise at the cookie, which was topped with crushed ketchup-flavored potato chips.

The video prompted a wave of mixed and skeptical responses in the comments section, with viewers debating what exactly a “ketchup chip” is and whether the cookie would taste good.

Comment section reacts with skepticism and debate

Several commenters drew comparisons to other divisive food combinations. One user wrote, “I can’t prove it but the people who like pineapple on pizza will approve of this.” Another commenter said, “I want apologies from people who said oatmeal raisin was the worst.” Pineapple as a pizza topping has sparked its own debates online, including other viral reactions to pineapple pizza.

Some viewers expressed outright disbelief or disgust at the concept. One commenter wrote, “Ketchup chips cannot be a real thing,” followed by a nauseated face emoji. Questions about whether a food item is genuinely what it claims to be have surfaced in other viral posts, including one involving a woman’s hamburger bun water test.

Other commenters said they held their own strong food opinions but still rejected the cookie. One user wrote, “i’m actually actively eating pineapple bacon ham and jalapeño pizza rn n i do NOT approve of this.”

Not all reactions were negative. A commenter wrote, “honestly i’d try it cuz ketchup chips are so gas,” expressing openness to trying the snack. Another user, identifying as Canadian, wrote, “as a Canadian ill gladly eat this.”

According to footage in the video, a closer view of the cookie’s description showed it was labeled as containing “Canada’s favorite ketchup chips” along with chocolate chunks and butterscotch chips.

The ketchup chips referenced in the cookie are not a solidified form of ketchup sauce, according to a report from Vancouver Is Awesome. Instead, they are ketchup-flavored potato chips, a snack that the outlet describes as widely popular in Canada, which are crumbled and placed on top of the cookie.

The cookie was reportedly created by Breka Bakery and Cafe, a bakery based in Vancouver. The bakery is also said to made the cookie as a tribute to Canada Day, a national holiday observed on July 1.
