The PGA Championship began with 16 LIV Golfers among the field of 156, but only half that number made it as far as the weekend, with big names including Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson heading home early.
While eight LIV Golfers teed it up in the third round at Quail Hollow, only two are still in with a reasonable chance of taking the title, and it looks like even they will need something special to catch leader Scottie Scheffler.
After two rounds of 70, Jon Rahm found a spark that's been largely missing in Major performances since his move to LIV Golf, although he denies there's any connection. He carded a four-under 67 on Saturday to get to six-under, five behind Scheffler.
If Rahm can close that gap on Sunday to win the PGA Championship, it will bring him three of the four Major titles he needs to complete the career Grand Slam, having already won the US Open and The Masters.
Another LIV Golfer in contention for his maiden PGA Championship title is two-time US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau. He narrowly missed out to Xander Schauffele at Valhalla in 2024, and for a brief period on Saturday, he looked like taking control, moving to eight-under and the top of the leaderboard.

Then he made a bogey and a double-bogey on the first two holes of daunting closing stretch, the Green Mile, which saw him fall off the pace just at the wrong moment. He's still there or thereabouts, at five-under, but he'll need to bring his very best on Sunday to have a chance of victory.
David Puig is another who can be happy with his week so far, although a maiden Major title looks beyond him, heading into the final round on two-under, nine back of Scheffler, while the next LIV Golfer on the leaderboard is Joaquin Niemann. Many feel it's only a matter of time until he wins a Major, but it's not likely to come this week, as he's 10 behind Scheffler heading into the final round.

Of the eight remaining LIV Golfers in the field, Sergio Garcia is currently faring the worst, at nine-over for the tournament and rock bottom of the 74 who made the cut.
