Linda Robson has opened up about the tough time she’s been facing behind closed doors, revealing on Loose Women that things at home have been far from easy and admitting she came close to losing her job. Speaking candidly on Monday’s episode (5th May), Linda joined Charlene White, Brenda Edwards, and Gloria Hunniford for a special VE Day discussion — but things quickly got personal.
As the panel spoke about how they “keep calm and carry on” through tough times, Linda didn’t hold back. “I nearly lost my job, but hopefully I’m not gonna swear today because it’s a very important day,” she joked, alluding to some previous slip-ups on live TV. But behind the humour, she hinted at deeper issues. “Things have not been great at home, but hopefully things will be sorted out soon and I can get on with my life,” she said, reported the Express.
Charlene acknowledged that most viewers aren’t aware of what Linda’s really going through off-screen, to which Linda responded: “We’ve all got stuff we don’t like to share with people, that we like to keep private.”
Despite clearly facing personal challenges, Linda showed resilience and gratitude for the support around her. “Sometimes it’s quite hard to keep calm and carry on, but hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel and everything will be sorted,” she said. “I’ve got my lovely children and my grandchildren… and you lot as well.”
Her honesty was met with warmth from her fellow panellists, particularly Brenda Edwards, who offered her own emotional perspective. Brenda used a metaphorical “toolkit” to describe how she copes with life’s ups and downs. “Everybody knows everything that I’ve been through,” she said. “You need a toolkit in life so you might have a ladder for ups and downs, a hammer because it bashes you sometimes.”
She continued: “I like a spirit level to keep me on the straightened line, and you’ve gotta have some glue to put yourself back together after it, and that’s what I’m working on.”
Brenda, who heartbreakingly lost her son Jamal in 2022 due to cardiac arrhythmia caused by recreational drug use, has been a symbol of strength on the show. At the time, she bravely shared: “Since finding out the news, I’ve been in a state of shock, and I am still trying to process it.”
The conversation struck a chord with viewers who saw a very human side to two much-loved TV personalities trying to hold it all together, just like the rest of us.
