Leeds United news as Whites could face signing disappointment and defender steps up recovery

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Monday, 24 January 2022.

Leeds facing Aaronson disappointment

Leeds United are reportedly facing disappointment in their pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson this month.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who claims Leeds do not have the financial power to go beyond their second bid of £20 million.

The Whites have earmarked Aaronson as their number one midfield target this month, but Salzburg are standing firm in their desire to keep the USA international.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones said: “Leeds are definitely struggling with this Brenden Aaronson deal as I understand it for this window. They don’t have fortunes to throw around at the moment.”

Cresswell getting closer

Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell has been captured stepping up his recovery from a shoulder injury earlier today.

Cresswell was undertaking a mobility exercise to determine whether he is still experiencing an impingement when moving the injured shoulder in question, which he comes through without any issues.

The 19-year-old has been out for over a month due to a dislocated shoulder he picked up in training just before the defeat to Arsenal.

Marcelo Bielsa revealed that Cresswell had been targeting a return after the international break and it appears as though he is on the right track to achieve that.

Leeds statement

Leeds United have released a statement in response to the complaints by Newcastle United supporters regarding stewarding and turnstile issues.

Some Magpies fans are said to have experienced lengthy delays brought on by turnstile malfunction and ticketing problems.

It comes just over a month after Leeds supporters made complaints of their own when attempting entry into Stamford Bridge for the clash against Chelsea in December.
