KTM's Parent Company Is No Longer Called Pierer, Here's Its New Name

If you've been paying attention to all the KTM business developments since 2024, then chances are excellent that you knew this day was just over the horizon. But as you may also have learned by now, things aren't official until they happen. So, with that fact in mind, I'm here to tell you that January 13, 2026 marks the day that KTM's former parent company, Pierer Mobility AG, is officially no more.

In fact, if you try to access the investor relations website for Pierer Mobility, you will now instead be directed to the new site for all your investor relations-related needs, under the name of KTM's parent company's new owner: Bajaj.

To be more precise, the company is now officially known as Bajaj Mobility AG, and the logo you're seeing at the top of this piece is the one that the company has now adopted to represent itself. Its headquarters are still listed in Mattighofen, Austria, and it refers to itself as "the holding company of the KTM Group, one of Europe's leading motorcycle manufacturers. With its brands KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS, KTM AG is one of the European premium motorcycle manufacturers."

Interestingly, it goes on to add in another line that, "In addition to motorcycles with an internal combustion engine, the product portfolio also includes high-end components (WP) and vehicles with innovative electric drives."

Now, that's a line that takes on an even heavier weight when taken in the context of Bajaj's other EV developments of its own. Bajaj Mobility's parent company Bajaj Auto (what you might think of, for the sake of mental expediency, as "Big Bajaj," sort of like Honda in Japan is "Big Honda" as compared to its US subsidiary, American Honda). You see, Bajaj itself is in the midst of expanding beyond just the EV three-wheelers or Chetak scooters that it's unveiled in different markets over the past few years. In fact, as recently as November 2025, Bajaj executive director Rakesh Sharma was publicly discussing the company's R & D efforts into developing its own EV motorcycle platform.

So, while there's not enough information yet to go on with regard to Bajaj Mobility's guiding hand for KTM and what it portends for the future, it's difficult not to read a little bit of a 'Chekhov's gun' scenario into that line being included in Bajaj Mobility AG's own description of itself. For those unfamiliar, that's a literary principle that's frequently used in all manner of creative efforts, which basically states that you don't put a gun on stage and then not use it.

While I certainly can't tell the future, what I do think is reasonable to extrapolate is the idea that you don't talk about "vehicles with innovative electric drives" as the very last line in the description of your company (and therefore, arguably the final impression you're going to leave with whoever's reading that paragraph) and somehow not consider those electric drives important to your company's strategy going forward.

As always, we'll look forward to sharing whatever happens. What would you like to see come from KTM (and Bajaj) in 2026? Let us know in the comments!
