Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau enjoy intimate dinner date in Montreal

Newly single pop superstar Katy Perry was recently seen enjoying a private dinner with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Montreal, sparking speculation about the nature of their meeting.

The 40-year-old singer and the 53-year-old politician chose Le Violon, an upscale restaurant known for its refined atmosphere, as the venue for their evening out.

Photos obtained by TMZ show Perry and Trudeau engaged in what appeared to be a warm and attentive conversation, with the singer leaning forward across the table, clearly focused on their discussion.

An eyewitness shared that personal security guards kept a close watch on the pair through a mirror while they enjoyed cocktails and sampled several dishes, including lobster.

Adding a personal touch to the evening, the chef came out to greet the two guests, and after their meal, Perry and Trudeau reportedly visited the kitchen to thank the staff directly.

Perry is currently touring Canada as part of her The Lifetimes Tour, with back-to-back concerts scheduled in Ottawa and Montreal, making this dinner a well-timed break between performances.

Though the exact nature of their date is unknown, the outing follows Perry’s recent announcement that she and actor Orlando Bloom, 48, have ended their relationship after years together.

The former couple, who share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, released a joint statement earlier this month saying they have been “shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”

They added, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”

This year has proven to be challenging for Perry in other aspects of her life too as she faced a public backlash after endorsing SpaceX, the aerospace company behind controversial satellite launches that have drawn criticism for their impact on night skies and astronomy research.

Meanwhile, Trudeau has been navigating his own personal changes.

In 2023, he and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau announced their separation after nearly 20 years of marriage. The former couple remains dedicated to co-parenting their three children — Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien — despite their split.

The Standard has reached out to representatives of both Perry and Trudeau for comment.
