Kasper Schmeichel sends classy social media message to Celtic 'living legend'

Kasper Schmeichel has hailed Celtic winger James Forrest as a 'living legend'.

It comes after the 33-year-old was handed a Special Recognition Award by the club for becoming its most decorated player.

Forrest took his trophy tally to 26 when his side won the Scottish Premiership last weekend. That means he is now one winner's medal ahead of Lisbon Lion Bobby Lennox, with whom he previously shared the mantle of most decorated player.

Forrest played until the 63rd-minute in Celtic's 1-1 draw with Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.

Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring in the first half before Daizen Maeda levelled things up in the second.

"I was really pleased with the team's performance," said Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers post-match.

"Rangers started off with a diamond, so I was glad we then find our way through that. I thought we had lots of spells where we did. Maybe in the final third of the pitch we were just short today in certain passes and making the final pass.

"Overall I thought we had really good control of the game. We probably should go one up and then from that there actually corner that we get, we go behind in the game just before half-time so it's not a great time to concede, but I said to the players, listen, they've done a lot of really good things, we've just got to keep our rhythm, keep passing, keep the control in the game and hopefully eventually the goal will come.

"I felt that we were the team with control, and with our playing through that, we felt we could maybe get something late on. Because normally you come here, you normally have 10-15 minutes where you're really hanging on, but I never felt we had that."
