Joey Barton denied bail over alleged attack at golf club

Joey Barton Golf EPL Liverpool Crown Court

Former Premier League midfielder Joey Barton has been denied bail following a court hearing at Liverpool Crown Court.
Barton, 43, has been in custody since March 10 after being charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent.
The charges stem from an alleged attack on Kevin Lynch near Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on March 8, involving co-defendant Gary O’Grady, 50, who was released on conditional bail.
Barton did not attend the bail hearing but was represented by Simon Csoka KC, and is scheduled to appear next at Liverpool Crown Court on April 7.
Known for his playing career with clubs such as Manchester City and Newcastle, and later managing Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers, Barton now hosts a podcast.
