Joey Barton denied bail over alleged attack at golf club

  • Former Premier League midfielder Joey Barton has been denied bail following a court hearing at Liverpool Crown Court.
  • Barton, 43, has been in custody since March 10 after being charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent.
  • The charges stem from an alleged attack on Kevin Lynch near Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on March 8, involving co-defendant Gary O’Grady, 50, who was released on conditional bail.
  • Barton did not attend the bail hearing but was represented by Simon Csoka KC, and is scheduled to appear next at Liverpool Crown Court on April 7.
  • Known for his playing career with clubs such as Manchester City and Newcastle, and later managing Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers, Barton now hosts a podcast.
