Jamie Foxx's close friend reveals heartbreaking truth to rumours star was 'near death'

Garcelle Beauvais has said it was "hurtful" to see rumours her friend and co-star Jamie Foxx was "lucky to be alive" amid his recent health struggles.

The 55-year-old actor was hospitalised last month after experiencing a "medical complication" while filming his upcoming Netflix project, Back In Action.

His daughter Corinne Foxx has reassured fans that her father is out of hospital and has been for weeks, following speculation the family was "preparing for the worst".

Garcelle confirmed she was able to send her well wishes to the family and urged people not to listen to rumours.

"I've spoken to the family, and I don't want to say much because they're the ones to say it, but it broke my heart that this horrible rumour was running around," she said.

Speaking to People, Garcelle added: "I immediately got the right information, [but] I just think people can't run with stuff like that. It's hurtful to so many people."

Corinne previously shared a statement to say her father had experienced a "medical complication", but reassured fans that he was "on his way to recovery" thanks to the "quick action" of medics.

Updating fans on Friday, she took to Instagram to say: "My dad has has been out of the hospital for weeks recuperating.

"In fact, he was playing pickelball yesterday! Thanks for everyone's prayers and support.

"We have an exciting work announcement coming next week too!"

Jamie had also taken to social media to thank his fans for the support as he said he was "feeling blessed" with all of the love.

On a plain background he wrote on Instagram: "Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed."

His words were followed by emojis of praying hands, a love heart and a fox.

The star was met with well-wishes from fans and his famous friends.

Halle Berry wrote: "Love you, Jamie," while Ellen DeGeneres said: " I'm sending love to you every single day."

Ansel Elgort added: " You are the greatest Jamie, please make a speedy recovery. You are a blessing to this world, we need you in it."

Last week, Jamie's condition was said to have improved, with sources claiming doctors are doing more tests before allowing him to leave and have advised him to "keep his stress level down".
