Jaguars are signing former Rams 4th-rounder Jacob Harris

The Los Angeles Rams had an opportunity this offseason to keep Jacob Harris for another year at the league minimum as an exclusive rights free agent, which would’ve given him a cap hit of less than $1 million. They chose not to, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent who could sign with any team.

It was a clear sign that they were moving on, but the Jacksonville Jaguars are giving him another shot. According to Aaron Wilson, the Jaguars are signing Harris as a free agent, bringing aboard the athletic tight end/wide receiver.

Harris, who’s 6-foot-5 and has 4.39 speed, was one of the best athletes in the 2021 draft when the Rams selected him in the fourth round. He was a raw prospect, only playing football for a few years before being drafted, but the athleticism and potential were there. He just couldn’t put it all together, dealing with multiple injuries and position switches.

The Jaguars will likely try him at wide receiver, but they might see him as an Evan Engram-type where he primarily plays the slot or out wide, but he can also align as a tight end close to the formation.

Harris finishes his career with just one catch for 6 yards, playing 16 total games in two seasons, mostly as a special teams contributor.
