ITV Emmerdale fans confused by 'abrupt' change as they fume over storm claiming lives of two popular characters

Emmerdale fans shared their confusion as they tuned in to find out the fate of some of the soap's best-loved characters. As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, bosses of the ITV soap have unleashed a windstorm on the Yorkshire village with the lives of its residents set to never be the same again.

And during Wednesday night's trip to the Dales, viewers were left 'broken' as Liv Dingle - nee Flaherty - became the second victim of the horror natural disaster. The character, played by Isobel Steele, became trapped underneath a rouge caravan as she and her husband Vinny attempted to make their way to The Woolpack.

The couple had tried to make their journey from their home to the pub after a panicked Paddy Kirk arrived and told stepson Aaron that his mum, Chas, was in hospital after being injured in the storm. As the pair planned to rush to be with her, vet Paddy asked Liv and Vinny if they'd mind going over to the pub to watch his and Chas' daughter, Eve.

And viewers finally discovered the pair's fate, with Vinny back on his feet desperate to help his wife. As Aaron and Paddy also rushed to help, Liv tearfully said: "I can't feel my legs." As Aaron and Vinny attempted to free her, Paddy warned them not to as it will cause more damage and told them to wait until the emergency services arrive.

After an agonising wait, it wasn't good news and it was Paddy who had to break it to Aaron, Vinny, and his mum Mandy that Liv wasn't going to make it. A short time later Liv, who has realised she was dying, then said to her husband: "I love you Vinny, I never knew anyone could make me so happy..." before closing her eyes and taking her final breath.

But amid the tears - and there were A LOT - Emmerdale fans couldn't help but notice the 'abrupt' change to the stormy weather. @steamyeeyore said: "Can't believe Liv is gone. Amazing how the wind suddenly stopped though!" @auntybunty wrote: "Storm ended very quickly."

@lizzyjones8530 shared: "The wind stopped all of a sudden just like that!" @ClaireRozee tweeted: "#Emmerdale wheres the wind gone ? Stopped a bit abruptly didn't it." @ratcliff_jake added: "The wind just completely stopped, during a storm, just in time for some emotional scenes #emmerdale."

It comes days after Harriet Finch became the first to die after she was flipped off a quad bike as she searched for pregnant Amelia Spencer in the woods after she went into labour alone in the outdoors. After saddling up her horse, Ice, Kim Tate joined the search for the teen but as she searched, she stumbled across a trapped Harriet. As she tried to help, her horse bolted and left Kim without a way of returning to the village for help.

Then, in another twist, both women ended up lying lifeless after a fork of lightning struck the quad throwing them both. Kim hit her head on a stone, leaving viewers wondering if either of them will be able to escape the storm. But it was then confirmed during the start of Monday night's episode (October 17) that Kim survived and sadly, Harriet had lost her life in the freak accident.

An emotional and injured Kim later arrived back at Home Farm to break the awful news of Harriet's death to Will and his daughter Dawn. Meanwhile, Harriet's lifeless body was found by partner Dan, who was in the midst of his own rescue mission for daughter Amelia.

And some Emmerdale fans were confused as to why Harriet's body appeared to just be left in the woods. @Simy_78 asked: "So are we to assume that Harriet’s body has been just left out in the woods then where she died? #Emmerdale." @Twig9876 commented: "So, Harriet is still out in the woods. No one mentioned (unless I missed it) that police or ambulance was going out to recover the body #emmerdale." @ToriaTowers added: "Why hasn't anybody informed the police that Harriet is dead and her body is in the woods. Is anybody else casually stepping over her? #Emmerdale."

Meanwhile, many viewers have been sharing their upset at the choice of characters to be killed off. @ jaynebungard complained: "Can't believe what I've just watched, Liv was a different, fun, likeable character, how can you get rid of interesting characters & yet keep boring mundane ones??????"

@katie_louise_macneill_23 wrote: "Shocked they killed of Liv, so many other annoying characters could of been killed off like chas and Al." @mountfordsimon35 echoed: "Can’t believe u killed liv off less popular characters u could of got rid of."
