'It's the Birkin basket of cable management' – I've only ever seen bland plastic designs, but this ultra-chic woven box can stylishly stash every unsightly wire and it's only $10.99

A rattan cable management box.

There's nothing worse than a mess of tangled power cords. I should know – every time I walk into my room, I see my collection of various cords and chargers clumped next to the outlet underneath my desk. It's an eyesore I usually try to ignore, but with this incredibly stylish cable management box from Walmart, I no longer have to.

Made with a rattan weave and two slots on either side, this box is a practical way to organize cables and cords, and a stylish one at that. I was talking in the office with my co-Style Editor here at Homes & Gardens, Julia Demer, about wanting to make all the cables on my desk look neater, but all I could find were very bland plastic designs. Yes, they organized my wires, but then I was stuck with a white box on my desk that didn't look all that much better than the cords themselves. Then Julia showed me a design she'd found hiding at Walmart.

'Often, cable management boxes – hard as they cosplay otherwise – still read as just that: cable management boxes,' Julia tells me. 'This Walmart find, though, is among the more convincing iterations I’ve seen, channeling the light-and-breezy basket I’d imagine the late Jane Birkin would have wanted.’

Effortless and chic, and for only $10.99, the buy has elevated my work desk as well as organize it.

Although I'm planning on using this cable management box on my office desk, I'd argue that it's stylish enough to bring home too. Place it on a kitchen counter to hold cords from countertop appliances, or next to the TV to hide wires, or add to a home office for convenience with short desktop cords. Regardless of where you style it, this rattan box is bound to elevate your space and alleviate the eyesore of cables and cords.

This realization that cord boxes can be as pretty as they are practical sent me down a path to find plenty more designs that are so far from the bland designs I had seen before. So below, find three more equally affordable models from Walmart that are just as practical as my rattan pick, but appeal to all different tastes.
