Irish soccer star Denise O'Sullivan scores wondergoal in the US ahead of World Cup qualifiers

Cork woman Denise O'Sullivan impressed for her club North Carolina Courage in the National Women's Soccer League in the US with a stunning goal at the weekend.

The Ireland Women's international pounced on a poor clearance from the Houston box and controlled the ball before unleashing a deadly right-footed volley past the keeper from 25 yards.

Irish and North Carolina fans were quick to label the goal "outrageous" and "pure class" on social media.

Denise herself even responded to the FAI retweeting the video with the caption: "Same again versus Georgia." Denise wrote: "You got it."

The wondergoal wasn't enough to earn O'Sullivan's team a win with Houston Dash prevailing on a 4-3 scoreline.

O'Sullivan will be in international action for Ireland next Monday, June 27, as they do battle with Georgia at the Tengiz Burjanadze Stadium, Gori in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
