Ireland v Australia teams for the Autumn international at the Aviva Stadium

Andy Farrell has made eight changes to the Ireland team that defeated Fiji last weekend for today's clash with Australia.

Skipper Johnny Sexton will return from injury the autumn series finale in Dublin.

Vice-captain James Ryan, prop Andrew Porter, flanker Josh van der Flier and full-back Hugo Keenan have also been recalled after overcoming fitness issues.

Hooker Dan Sheehan, flanker Peter O’Mahony and centre Garry Ringrose the other players restored following last weekend’s 35-17 win over Fiji.

Uncapped Leinster lock Joe McCarthy could make his debut from the bench.

Stuart McCloskey will partner Ringrose in midfield after retaining his spot at inside centre ahead of Bundee Aki, who has to be content with a place on the bench following suspension.

Leinster back Jimmy O’Brien has been preferred to Robert Baloucoune and will shift to the left wing after starting at full-back last Saturday.

Canberra-born Mack Hansen has been moved to the right flank and will line-up against his native country seeking to score a try for the third successive game.

Tighthead prop Tadhg Furlong, lock Tadhg Beirne, back-rower Caelan Doris and scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park have also been retained. Doris will revert to the centre of the back row, with O’Mahony in at blindside.

Australia have made 10 changes and recalled a wealth of experience for Saturday’s Dublin showdown with Ireland on the back of an embarrassing first defeat to Italy.

Prop Allan Alaalatoa, centres Hunter Paisami and Len Ikitau, and wings Tom Wright and Mark Nawaqanitawase are the only five men retained from the Wallabies team which began the humiliating and historic 28-27 loss in Florence.

Scrum-half Nic White and fly-half Bernard Foley will resume their half-back partnership in a side captained by veteran prop James Slipper.

Andrew Kellaway replaces the dropped Jock Campbell at full-back to join Wright and last week’s debutant Nawaqanitawase in the back three.

Skipper Slipper and Alaalatoa will pack down either side of hooker David Porecki, while lock Nick Frost has shaken off illness and a minor ankle issue to partner Brumbies team-mate Cadeyrn Neville.

A familiar back row sees Jed Holloway return at blindside flanker, with Waratahs team-mate Michael Hooper in the number seven jersey and Rob Valetini anchoring the scrum at number eight.
