Iowa-Nebraska Features Lowest Over/Under Betting Total in College Football History

Iowa and Nebraska are set to do battle Friday in what is anticipated to be an extremely low-scoring affair. In fact, the Hawkeyes-Cornhuskers clash has the lowest projected betting point total in college football history, with sportsbooks setting the over/under for the score at 25.5 points, per Brett McMurphy of the Action Network.

That number was as low as 24.5 on SI Sportsbook on Thursday night.

No game in college football history has been projected to have a lower points total, with the matchup between Iowa and Nebraska breaking the previous record, which of course, also included the Hawkeyes.

The previous record low points total was 27.5 points, for a game that took place less than two weeks ago between Iowa and Rutgers. Under bettors were victorious in that one, as the Hawkeyes shut out the Scarlet Knights, 22-0.

Including the upcoming game on Friday, Iowa has been involved all four of the lowest projected betting point totals in college football history, each of which has come during the 2023 season. In the previous three games, the under has cashed in all of them.

This season, Iowa is averaging 18.5 points per game. The Hawkeyes are surrendering 12.4 points per game, having given up just 136 points across their first 11 games.

Kirk Ferentz’s squad might not light up the scoreboard, but that hasn’t kept them from picking up wins, with the Hawkeyes sitting at 9–2 overall and 6–2 in Big Ten play heading into Friday’s tilt.

Kickoff between the Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers (5–6, 3–5) is set for noon ET at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.
