Good morning, Rachel! Have a great show! Don't forget to give us YOUR take on the market and stocks because you have a great handle on the IBD methods! | 100%!! |
How about the panel discussing volume - price up big on large volume incicates funds moving in and big volume on a large decline in price is the opposite - funds selling. Why don't you consider these two events ? | I do. Mike discounts volume. |
ALAB - several times I mentioned it is a high tight flag and only an occasional mention by the panel. Why not discuss the requirements of that pattern and what one could expect in price appreciation when it occurs. | I'll bring it up. |
Arnie, how are you whittling down all these popping stocks into just the ones you want to invest in? | Fully invested .. Keeping watch list FResh like HWM |
Love me some HWM and PWR... I am sitting in those pools | I like the company and industry group ... Showing strength |
Ed - always a great job on reporting the news. | 100% |
so for the first time since the IBD Lives inception i missed this weeks show and two days last week. Did we get to see Alis baby? | Hi Lee, not yet, we're waiting for Ali's decision on what photo to share, thank you! |
from 9/11 survivor: pls take a moment to honor the fallen, this morning. thanks. | Yes! Never forget. Glad to see the stock exchanges observe a moment of silence. Letting Rachel know. Thanks, Hatman |
Sorry join late. Tickers for today? | No worries. Arnie on HWM, Chris on PWR. |
ARNIE, I bought HWM yesterday, | Its on my hot list |
GM all | GM Norm |
When is Jim Roppel's September interview? | I'd say best place to keep checking is the IBD youtube channel. |
I cannot seem to find the ready list, can you drop a link so I can save it please? | Very easy to find; go to our landing page, investors.com/ibdlive, view the daily recap of the show, click on the link to the stock lists. |
Chris thoughts on VRT? | Asked Rachel for coverage. |
Good Morning all! | GM Shashi! |
Zoned out and missed tickers. Could I get them by panelist please? | I think Arnie's is Howmet. Mine is PWR |
GM from Cape Cod. I missed the last 2 days playing in my Senior Club Championship. 79-75 second place. My Tuesday night golf league partner won with a 74-75 | Great scores Phil! Congrats on the runner-up honors. GM from LA |
Thanks Ed, you just made my morning: MU. Otherewise, a dull morning. | live answered |
Yesterday, after my round, I had a stock melt up and I had to booked profits as most of my names were breaking my regression channels. Best day for me in 2 years as my account surged over 55 | Congrats Phil |
5 % | live answered |
SNDK - did they also have analyst note? | Looks like Morgan Stanley bullish note on NAND. |
I guess I was in the right stocks at the right time. | That's the job of IBD, Investors.com and IBD Live: Help readers focus on the best stocks. |
Could the astute group give me your thoughts onEZPW and PGY | Hi Robert! Thanks for the kind words. PGY, David Ryan's mention, continues to do really well. Notice how since the breakout in June near 19, PGY made a strong move and did not touch its 21-day EMA until Aug 1. Since then, it's had a few more tests of the key moving average, then rebounded bullishly. The 16.34 handle pivot in EZPW looks valid to me, and now it's testing the top of the base. For now, PGY is the stronger stock, but the group is now a leader, 31st among 197 for 6-month relative performance. Looks like a good area to invest. |
Great job beating the bell ED!!! | Well done for sure! |
Good morning. Is CRDO in a climax run? | live answered |
Chris, what is your take on the market: Nasdaq and S&P500? | Both are low in their regression channels. So I feel we have room to run. |
ED 3.7% ABOVE THE 21 WAS NOT EXTENDED PLTR | Good point. |
ARM - moving up on volume - would you buy here ? | Great Q, Frank. You cannot draw a trendline here within ARM's base. Kind of a weird pattern too, do you see the remnants of a double bottom there? 1st low 140.70, 2nd low 127.03, middle peak of 166.88? Hatman -- https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/double-bottoms-make-sure-the-second-leg-undercuts-the-first/ |
Arnie, you used the magic word. "Please" good job. LOL | Hahhahah... Always |
Arnie really should utilize the weekly charts once in awhile - might be missing the Big Picture | Weekly first ... Always for me .Always looking at the big picture ... especially in times when the market is volatile. |
Arnie, what is the significance of IBD mutual fund ownership? | Hand picked growth funds with superb historical perfmance ... Very smart growth fund portfolio mangers... Great stock pickers . |
Arnie, What do you think of MP after the pullback? | First touch of the 50 day moving averaage... I like . Now it has to prove to me that institiuitons are coming in supporting it. |
BX? | live answered |
Arnie, what is the name of this IBD Growth Mutual fund ? Thanks ! | Type in 0MUTI |
Arnie one of your stocks you previously followed BABA moved above pivot | Chineese stocks are hot right now ... Its on my hot list ... I LIKE |
NFLX just a bit frustrating right now | Agree. I got shaken out on 8/19. I think I will wait until it resumes its uptrend. |
RKLB??? | Some tighter action after that ugly tumble last week. |
AFRM - any comments? | Pulling back after that initial spike on earnings, but still holding above 21-day. Rival BNPL play KLAR down in day after IPO debut. |
Chris, CCJ is doing that, "up in the morning" thing again…I almost bit yesterday but remmebered your comments on it. Watching for it to finish the day strong. | That big reversal on 8/29 still gives me pause. |
To sum up, Ed, it sounds like it pays to look at and play TSLA more like a biotech startup than as a growth prospect. Earnings won't tell you anything much, because its price potential lies in the story of its ever-developing, ground breaking pipeline. |
It's a trillion-dollar startup. So keep that in mind. 90% of the valuation is assuming things that will happen despite not happening for 10 years. |
what are the green flags on Market Surge with a percantage in it ? | Power flags ... When a stock breaks out from a base within first 3 weeks and goes up more than 20 % |
TEM up 10% stock is being driven today primarily by news that the company has received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for its updated Tempus Pixel device, a significant milestone for its AI-powered cardiac imaging platform | Thanks for the info! |
Chris are you still I. BTSG just signed on sorry if you mention already | I am. I'm letting it run. |
arnie- great analysis on RDDT- always enjoy your enthusiam!!! | Much appreciated !!! |
Ed, if you set up[ your account to sell the higher price shares then that would help you pyramid | Good point. |
Arnie, tried OMUTI in yahoo finance, etrade and on IBD... no luck... Am I looking at the wrong places | 0(zero)muti |
Arne - Don't know if you're familiar with him but you looking at the all time highs as a reliable breakout is a tennant of Dr Eric Wish. .......must come after an ATH 3 months or greater | Interesting.I'm not familiar with him. Thank you for sharing. |
Chris, do you consider same analysis for ALAB? | ALAB is a high tight flag, so it could run another 100% or more. |
Chris, will you host an "How to Set Up Regression Channel LInes in TOS" webinar in the near future? Thanks | Yes. Justin and I will talk about regression channels on Oct. 1 on the podcast. |
Any thoughts or links on how to protect a winning call option profits? (A nice problem to have :-D) | You can always roll the option forward. Take the profits and then buy another nearer the money. |
CRDO is one of my best perforemers | What will make you exit? |
What start and end points does Chris use for a regression line on a particular stock? | Typically the bottom day or when it retakes the 50 or 200 day. For CRDO it starts on 4/7 and goes out 50 days to 6/17. |
Ed - NFLX may be having a knee jerk negative reaction to yesterday's resignation of it's Chief Product Officer.... | Also, SPOT not looking good |
Chris, is there any training podcasts in the IBD library about Regression Channel Lines? | I think there are some on the indexes. But on indvidual stocks we've been looking at them recently on Live. Justin and I will analyze them Oct. 1 on his podcast. |
Ed, what are your stock market thoughts if there's a U.S. government shutdown at the end of this month? | It depends on how long. If it's a day or two or even a week, the markets probably won't be too worried. |
SIG - I still laugh when I think about David Ryan talking about Swift and fans getting engaged | You might laugh all the way to the bank if that thesis works out. I don't own it yet, but watching closely. |
Chris, how many "core" positions do you run? vs all the smaller ones (like 1% or 2 or 3%) on avg? tx | Depends on the stocks. Sometimes everything I have is a core position. Other times they are all swing trades. Right now HOOD is definitely a core position. But MU, BTSG and FTAI could join the club. |
"Rachel, | |
MSFT breaking out today? Buy point?" | Not breaking out. Might have an early entry if it can get clearly above the 50-day line. |
Thanks, Arnie, for your perpetual master class on using MarketSurge. | Appreciate the kind words David... Always glad to help ! |
great question to ask Rachel! | Agree! |
Are your stops actually orders or mental stops? | It all depends if you are around watching the market to act on your mental stops. If I am out of market contact and can't watch I place an actual order. |
Chris, I don't track gold but I can't ignore the RS of GDXU and the miners, comments? | I wish I had gotten in on 8/21. Great move since then. I used to trades these. I need to pay closer attention the next time they set up. |
Arnie, taking some time away from marketing watching, does executing Stop Limits on stocks expose you to being shaken out by traders? | Yes ... Atleast for me it does. |
MRP, Edd please | Consolidating nicely at highs - around the profit-taking zone. |
Ed, comments on SPOT please | Much like NFLX, not having a great day, falling through 50-day. |
Please review HNGE. Looks like an IPO ascending base | live answered |
VRT??? | Hi Norm, despite the above-average volatility in this stock, to me it is actionable. Retaking the 10-week line in volume, cracking a five-week trendline, the latest correction so much milder than the deep V-shaped base. Or, you could consider letting the new base further develop. Just my 1 cent. Hatman -- https://leaderboard.investors.com/#/leaders/watchlist |
PSTG analysis? | live answered |
Arnie, I was looing at DAVE as well. I thought it was a reverse head and shoulders bottom on the daily. Sure there are much better stocks. DAVE could need some basing however it can form a ledge and fall off the cliff too. | Marco ... I see that too. |
Was it unfair to talk about DAVE without no Dave's in the IBD live today.. lol | HA HA! This team today is 125% qualified! |
Rachel is knocking it out of the park | Yes she is |
Ed, do HNGE | live answered |
Great job Rachel.. Thank You Chris Arnie Ed Hatman and Webby | Cheers Phil. Way to go on the links! LA city October championship coming up. I'm trying to get my game back in shape, pal. |
and Ken | live answered |
Great job as always! Rach | Awesome. Thanks Charles. |
Fed is going to cut 50 basis points | Let's see what the CME FedWatch traders think! |
great show and no livermore lol! | HA! Thanks much Paul. 9/11... Never Forget |
Rachel, SIG. Lab Grown Diamonds are a girls best friend. | Keep an eye on it! |
