Arne Slot’s Liverpool are desperate to get back to winning ways as they host Aston Villa at Anfield in the Premier League today.
The Reds have just one win in their last seven outings, and pressure is mounting on the Dutchman to right the ship.
Their misery compounded in midweek as Slot named a heavily rotated side to face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and fell to a comprehensive 3-0 defeat.
He has not been helped by injuries to his various summer signings, which have limited the involvement of Alexander Isak and Jermie Frimpong, but Slot has struggled to pull Liverpool out of their nosedive.
Things will get no easier today as high-flying Aston Villa visit Merseyside. Unai Emery’s side went winless through their first six matches of the season, but head to Anfield having lost just one of their last seven. A surprise win over Manchester City last time out will have morale high in the squad.
