The FG42 is a new full-auto assault rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 5 available through the free Battle Pass.
You don’t need the Premium or BlackCell Battle Pass to unlock it. The weapon is earned on Page 3, requiring you to progress through the BP first. Here’s how you can unlock the FG42 AR fast in Black Ops 7 and Warzone, along with other key details about the weapon.
How to unlock FG42 assault rifle in BO7 and Warzone fast
The FG42 is available on the Page 3 High Value Target (HVT) tier of the Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 5 Battle Pass. You’ll need around 15 Battle Pass Tokens to access Page 3 and claim the standard rewards on the page to unlock the FG42 HVT reward.
To quickly unlock it, I highly recommend completing daily and weekly challenges across Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, as these provide hefty amounts of BP XP. In BO7 Multiplayer, prioritize objective-based modes like Hardpoint and Domination because these typically reward more XP. If you’re grinding in Warzone, Resurgence is a great option because of its fast-paced matches. Whenever possible, activate Double Battle Pass XP Tokens to speed up your progress.
The Season 5 Battle Pass also includes an FG42 weapon blueprint on the Completion Page, though you’ll need to finish the pass before accessing it. Activision will release the Tracer Pack: Operation Stingray Bundle featuring the “Forced Retreat” FG42 blueprint with bullet tracers and death effects during Season 5. Purchasing that bundle instantly unlocks the weapon.
If you don’t unlock the FG42 before Season 5 ends, it will become available through Armory Challenges in the following season.
How does the FG42 compare to other ARs in BO7 & Warzone?
The FG42 is a full-auto AR built for mid- to long-range combat. It delivers excellent damage, a respectable fire rate, low recoil, and fast recentering speed, making sustained fire effective even at longer distances.
Its main drawbacks are slower handling and a short open-bolt firing delay, so it won’t feel as responsive as lighter assault rifles like the VX Compact, Peacekeeper Mk1, or M15 Mod 0. Even so, its accuracy and damage output give it strong meta potential in Season 5, especially in Warzone, alongside AK-27 and MXR-17.

- Prestige 2: Plume
- Prestige Max (Level 250): Momiji (animated)
Like other Prestige Camos, these are universal, allowing you to equip them on other weapons once unlocked.
