We all know the feeling of getting into your car on a scorching day, only for it to feel like you have stepped into a furnace.
Many turn to blasting the air con or winding down the window in the hope of it cooling down in record time, while you swelter at the steering wheel.
It turns out there is a way to feel more comfortable almost instantly thanks to ultimate hack for cooling the car quicker than normal.
Celebrity mathematician and presenter Hannah Fry took to social media to share her knowledge on how you can cool your car in a matter of moments.
She says in the video: “Don’t bother putting your air con on, that will take a good five minutes, it is too long.”
Instead, she says the trick is to open a window on the opposite side to the driver — she picks the rear door window — before getting out of the car and opening and shutting the driver door quickly, which pretty much immediately cools the car.
She said: “The reason why it works is that when you open and close the door, especially if you do it quickly, the door as it’s moving outwards sweeps out all of the air that’s in its way, creating this area of low pressure.
“And, then that sets up something called ‘bulk flow’, which is where all of the hot, sweaty, horrible air inside the car is drawn outwards, and the only way to refill it is with nice fresh air from over on the other side.”
She added: “It only takes two or three goes and then suddenly it’s beautifully temperate.”
And her fans online were blown away by the information.
One said: “I do this all the time, and my husband thinks I'm insane. I have to just shout ‘IT’S SCIENCE’ to him over and over,” while another added: “The magic of science, I’ve been doing this for years. I even do it in the house and have my partner stop the other door from slamming while I waft open and shut the front door.”
Others who have been affected by the heat said: “I hate getting in my car and dying in the heat. I need to test this for myself,” while another added: “This is the perfect time to test this information out, thank you for sharing!”
