House so overgrown with shrubs, trees and vines neighbour 'forced' to build new wall

A house is so overgrown with vegetation, it is now vine-ridden with shrubs, trees, and vines that have “forced” neighbours to build a new wall.

The property in Ramsgate, east Kent, has become such a problem that neighbours have complained about it.

A boat, van and a car, remain beneath the thick mess of green vegetation that has overtaken the property.

The out-of-control vegetation got so bad one neighbour was forced to rebuild their wall after it was destroyed.

Apparently community police officers and the fire brigade have been called round a few times to the property.

But when asked, the occupant was reportedly more than happy to trim back shoots that were creeping onto someone else’s property.

One frustrated neighbour told The Sun : "The locals are aware of it, the PCSOs and the fire brigade have been round a few times.

"I don't understand how there is no responsibility for it. You have people walking up and down picking up litter.

"I'm left thinking seriously what is the point of that when you have this there. It isn't as bad as it was; it has been cut down a bit. But the front is completely overgrown."

Thanet District Council have reportedly struggled to engage with the house’s owner however.

They have reportedly owned the overgrown property for 12 years.

Ted, another neighbour, said: "I just sometimes see him to say hello to. He gets in and out over the back.

"He is very nice, but a bit secluded really. The house is definitely lived in.He doesn't do a lot with it though. He leaves us alone so we leave him alone."

Rena Reves, described her neighbour as "an enigma wrapped in a bush".

She said that there was once a little path that led up to the front door but is now completely gone.

She suspects squirrels live in one of the vans and questioned how someone could live like that.

But a friend of the homeowner stuck up for them, despite their overgrown house, saying they were a “lovely man” who did “a lot for charity”.

He was described as “always polite, well trimmed and dressed” and preferred using the back door to get in and out.
