House by murder scene could be tinned up due to 'drug dealing' as police seek court order

Police are seeking a court order to close up a house next to where a young man was shot dead.

Merseyside Police are seeking a closure order for an address in Lavrock Bank, Dingle - the street where Sam Rimmer was murdered on August 16 this year. An inquest heard Mr Rimmer, 22, was with a number of associates who "chased off" two men on an electric bike.

The riders then met up with another two men on a second bike, returned to the scene and opened fire at around 11.40pm, wounding Mr Rimmer in the chest. Bootle man Mr Rimmer did not live in Dingle and is believed to have been visiting friends at the time.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said the notice was served on a property in Lavrock Bank "following reports of drug dealing in the area".

Officers served the notice on the property on Wednesday (October 5), and applied to Liverpool Magistrates' Court for a full order under section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. The order means no-one other than individuals named by the court would be able to enter the property for a set time, effectively evicting the occupants.

Today the occupants of the house, named as 49-year-old Lisa McPartland and her two sons, Christopher and Lewis McPartland, were due to appear in court where Ms McPartland would have been given opportunity to challenge the order.

However, Nick Woosey, representing the family, said Ms McPartland was ill and further information was needed from her in order for the hearing to proceed. Lee Bonner, prosecuting, requested the court set a new date for the hearing within two weeks and impose conditions meaning Ms McPartland can stay at the home until that date.

A new hearing date was set for October 20 at Wirral Magistrates' Court. The death of Mr Rimmer marked the first murder in a horrific six days of gun violence which also saw Ashley Dale, 28, and Olivia Pratt-Korbel, nine, shot dead in separate incidents.

It is still unclear whether Mr Rimmer was the intended target of the gunmen, or whether he was caught in the crossfire in an attempt to shoot his associates.

So far three males, aged between 17 and 23, have been arrested in connection with Mr Rimmer's murder and are on conditional bail as investigations continue. No-one has yet been charged.

Detectives have since announced they believe they have traced the suspects from the scene at Lavrock Bank, at 11.36pm, through to Hunts Cross Avenue near to the junction of Whitney Place in Woolton, where the last sighting took place at 12:04am.
