How much would you be making to live that Manhattan corner office life? According to Indeed, the average salary for an executive in New York City is $138,920. That’s 15% above the national average executive salary. On the high end, New York City execs can make $268,966 and above.
Maybe you thought the executive salary would be higher. An executive can apply to positions from director and above. Typically, there are more directors than there are CEOs and CFOs, so the average salary is lower than you might imagine.
However, the high end of the executive spectrum is very high. According to Equilar, the highest paid executive in New York City is Patrick W. Smith, the founder of Axon Enterprise, Inc. Equilar reported that his total compensation per year is $164,525,721.

What’s the Average Salary in New York?
An NYC big wig is making quite a bit more than the average New Yorker. ZipRecruiter reported that the average salary in New York state is $54,137 — almost one-third of the average executive salary. The average hourly wage is around $26.03 an hour. Riverside is the richest city in New York, with an average salary of $90,720. University Gardens and Sleepy Hollow were number two and three, respectively.
What’s the Average Salary in the United States?
The New York City executive salary — even on the low end — is quite a bit higher than the average pay in the U.S. SoFi reported that the national average salary is $63,795. That’s not even half of the average New York City executive. If you’re wondering about hourly pay, ZipRecruiter reported the average hourly pay is $26.82. Full time, that works out to be $1,072 a week or $4,649 a month.
The wealthiest cities in the United States? Sammamish, Washington, according to U.S. News & World Report. The median household income in Sammamish is $238,750, with 83% of its residents earning above $100,000. San Ramon, California, and Bethesda, Maryland, were behind Sammamish on the list for wealthiest cities.
