Haryana: BKU Charuni serves 15-day ultimatum to withdraw cases against farmers

AMBALA: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Charuni served a 15-day ultimatum to the ministry of railways and Centre government on Monday, to withdraw cases registered against farmers during farmers’ protest.

BKU Charuni national president Gurnam Singh Charuni said, "If the Central government did not withdraw cases registered against farmers during Andolan (farmers’ protest), then they will itself be responsible for Rail Roko Andolan in Haryana and Punjab."

Meanwhile, this Haryana based farm union has also called a meeting of its state-level executive and office-bearers at Jaat Dharamshala in Kurukshetra on Tuesday. BKU Charuni executive state president, Haryana, Karam Singh Mathana had issued a notice of this "urgent meeting" at 10 am, with an agenda to discuss "future strategy and other farm union affairs". The notice said, "It is urgent for office-bearers of every (district) unit of Haryana state to attend this meeting."

On Monday, Charuni released a video on his Facebook saying, "At the completion of Andolan, the government had promised to withdraw cases. The promise was to withdraw all cases related to the Centre and state governments. But the government had done nothing concrete towards this and even SKM (Sanyukt Kisan Morcha) has not been able to give a befitting response to this."

Charuni said that the cases which are related to the Centre government especially of Railways are still pending against farmers, who have started receiving summons of the same.

"We warn the Centre government that if these cases are not withdrawn immediately then we would be left with no option but to do Andolan. The Centre government should clarify in yes or no that whether it is going to withdraw the cases or not. It will be the responsibility of the Centre and railway ministry. We will stop trains in Haryana and Punjab", said Charuni.

He said by doing Andolan, the farmers have not done any crime but saved the country as true soldiers and the government should stop harassing them.
