Former Crystal Palace and England star Ian Wright recently proclaimed his love for the tiramisu at Harry’s Dolce Vita in Knightsbridge.
Wrighty told his millions of fans on TikTok: “I only come here to get the tiramisu. It’s the best in London… easily. It’s perfect: the right amount of chocolate on the top, with that nice creamy bit in the middle; what I love about it most is that it doesn’t have an overpowering coffee taste. Amazing.
“If there’s a better one in London, let me know and I’ll go and try it. That’s my quest now, to go and see if there’s a better one.”
We wonder whether there might be. But for now, here’s the recipe for the newly famous dish, should you wish to make it at home.

For the cream
Stage 1
Stage 2
Method
- Place egg yolk, sugar and marsala in a mixer and combine on a medium speed until the mix forms a lighter colour.
- In a separate bowl, whip the cream until lightly stiff and fold in mascarpone until it comes together.
- When these are both done, whisk the egg whites to from soft peaks then fold together with the cream and egg mix.
For the coffee
- Take 500ml of espresso coffee, 100ml of white rum and bring both to the boil, sieve and allow to cool.
Building the tiramisu
You will need eight large ceramic ramekins.
Final ingredients
Method
- Carefully cut the Savoiardi biscuits in half, and then place into the coffee mixture until nicely soaked through.
- Place 4 halves at the base of each of the ceramic ramekin moulds.
- Fill the moulds halfway with the tiramisu cream.
- Then add a further 4 biscuit halves, placed on top of the cream mix.
- Cover these with the rest of the cream until it reaches the top of the ramekin ensuring it’s evenly spread across the top.
- Allow to set in the fridge for around 3 hours.
- When ready to serve, coat the top in a light dusting of cocoa powder and add a chocolate coffee bean to the top.
