Harry and Meghan go to Charles' coronation - in a special edition of The Windsors

Harry and Meghan are going to King Charles' coronation - but only in a TV show.

The couple haven't confirmed if they'll be attending the historic event in May, but they do rock up at proceedings in Channel 4's The Windsors.

The Windsors Coronation Special will air in May as the real-life coronation takes place the same month at Westminster Abbey.

Harry Enfield, playing Charles, invites the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to his special day as the show returns to Channel 4 after three years.

The Crown actor Richard Goulding as Harry and Bridgerton actress Kathryn Drysdale as Meghan will weigh up the invitation from their palatial pad in California.

The satire also covers the controversy surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series, Harry & Meghan, which aired in December and Harry’s book Spare which came out in February.

In real life, a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed that they had been invited to the coronation.

However, they have yet to confirm if they'll attend.

The spokesperson said: “I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation.

"An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."

The invite comes after the couple's UK residence was taken off them by Charles as he looks to work on a reduced budget.

Frogmore Cottage - on the grounds of Windsor Castle - was gifted to the couple by the late Queen after their Windsor wedding in May 2018.

However, less than two years later they announced they would be stepping down as working royals and quitting the UK.

The couple then released their bombshell Netflix documentary before Harry gave us Spare.

The prince told trauma guru Gabor Maté in a web chat last week the royals don’t “speak the same language” in another blow to his family.

It comes after Charles reportedly offered his youngest son and daughter-in-law a Buckingham Palace suite to stay in when visiting the UK.

The couple now reside in a nine-bedroom property in Montecito, California, worth £12 million.

However for future visits to England, the King will reportedly allow the family of four to stay in a palace apartment, most likely to be Prince Andrew's old suite.

It's understood that Andrew has been offered Frogmore as he's set to move out of Windsor's Royal Lodge.

Harry and Meghan have been given until autumn to remove their belongings from the palatial pile, according to the Mail on Sunday.
