Spider-Man: Brand New Day may only just be hitting our screens, but Peter Parker star Tom Holland has said there is already a plan for his exit in the role. The actor has played the webslinger across four Spider-Man movies and several MCU outings so far.
While there has been no confirmation that he's going to stop any time soon, Holland says they have been working out a "plan" about how it might happen.
"Oh yeah, there's a whole plan that we have been working on for I would say since we finished Spider-Man: No Way Home," he explained when asked about the possibility on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "It's laid out, it's gonna change for sure but I have a really clear vision for the passing on of the baton and I think it's really exciting. I know it's really exciting when we have these meetings and chat about it but that is the thing that I want to do most in this character."
Recently, producer Amy Pascal shared her hopes that Brand New Day would kick off a new trilogy for Spider-Man. "I never want to be so presumptuous as to say anything is going to be a trilogy or more than one. That would be my dream, of course, but you never know," she added. "Because the truth is that the rule that we set for ourselves is to take it one movie at a time. It's important to us that you don't have to see one movie to see the other movie."
However, nothing has been confirmed yet about where Spider-Man will appear next. We do expect he'll appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, but Marvel hasn't officially announced this yet.
Holland has been clear that he wants to keep playing Peter Parker as long as he's able to. "I will do it for as long as they’ll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we'll see," he told The Hollywood Reporter recently.
