Greggs and McDonald's drive-thrus on edge of Bristol get green light

Two new drive-thrus for Emersons Green – a McDonald’s and a Greggs – have won planning permission from South Gloucestershire Council.

The new fast food outlets will go next to the Costa Coffee drive-thru on land which had been earmarked for a pub/restaurant at the Harlequin Office Park development.

Applicant Greene King Commercial Investments Ltd says that 34 full-time and 97 part-time jobs will be created. The McDonald’s will be open round the clock while the Greggs will be open daily from 7am to 11pm.

The site is accessed from Fieldfare via Folly Brook Road which in turn links to the A4174 Ring Road. The Greggs will be closest to the Costa outlet. Outdoor seating is planned at each drive-thru, plus a small children’s play area at the McDonald’s.

The nearest residential properties are separated by the Ring Road and landscaping plans include 22 trees, 105 metres of native hedgerow, new grassed areas, shrub planting, and an ecological habitat feature.

It is the final undeveloped plot at the Harlequin Office Park development which includes offices, a Travelodge and children’s nursery.
