Google’s New AI Plan Costs Just $4.5 a Month

Google has rolled out a new AI Plus plan, which is said to make its advanced AI tools more accessible. The plan is currently only available in Indonesia. But the tech giant has confirmed that the plan will expand to more countries in the future.

The AI Plus plan is priced at IDR 75,000 per month, which is around $4.5, and the new users get a 50% discount for the first six months. It includes Google’s latest AI tools for productivity, creativity, and research, along with 200 GB of cloud storage that can be shared with up to five family members.

What’s Included in AI Plus?

  • Creative tools: Direct access to Veo 3 Fast for video generation inside the Gemini app, plus AI filmmaking and image tools like Whisk and Flow.
  • Productivity boost: Gemini’s advanced assistance is integrated into Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, making it easier to draft emails, build project plans, and create presentations.
  • For students and researchers: Access to Gemini 2.5 Pro and new NotebookLM features to generate document insights and summaries, useful for exam prep or large research projects.
  • Family sharing: Benefits, including Gemini features and storage, can be shared with up to five members under one plan.

So with this new plan, it looks like the company is focusing more on developing nations with high smartphone use but lower access to premium subscriptions. I will not be surprised if Google launches this affordable plan in India as well. Since its biggest rival, OpenAI, has recently launched the ChatGPT Go plan in India, which also costs about $4.5, and is an exclusive plan in India.

One user asked the Google team about the price of this plan in India, but the company didn’t confirm its availability. Instead, Google suggested keeping an eye on its website for the latest updates, which could mean it’s still in the works. However, until there’s an official confirmation, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt.
