Goa's pvt sector wants Pramod Sawant to stop graft, keep corrupt MLAs out of new cabinet

PANAJI: While congratulating Pramod Sawant for his second term at the helm of the state, industrialists and builders urged Sawant on Wednesday to ensure a corruption-free government. Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) and CREDAI said that former ministers who were involved in corruption or stalling files in lieu of personal gains should be kept out of the cabinet.

The industry also recommended that an anti-corruption helpline should be setup just as the Bhagwant Singh Mann government has done in Punjab.

“We want the chief minister to establish grievances committees in each ministry where aggrieved public can seek redressal. Strict action should be initiated on persons involved in corruption or adopting delaying tactics in movement of work files,” said GSIA president Damodar Kochkar.

Kochkar said that strict action should also be taken against ministers who demand to clear files and applications submitted by the industry. Kochkar said that an anti-corruption helpline for corruption should be setup which allows a person to submit a complaint via WhatsApp.

CREDAI – Goa has backed GSIA and said that Sawant needs to walk the talk on his promise about ‘zero tolerance’ to corruption.

“We are on the same page with the GSIA. We at CREDAI too demand a corruption free environment for our business. We are paying huge amount of taxes and licence fees and it is the government’s responsibility to provide all the services without harassment,” said CREDAI president Nilesh Salkar.
