GM Just Fixed One Of The Biggest Headaches Of EV Charging

  • General Motors EV owners can now delete a charging app from their phone without getting range anxiety.
  • Over 5,000 DC fast chargers have been integrated into the company’s own apps.
  • In total, GM EV drivers can access over 250,000 public chargers in the U.S. and Canada.

General Motors just made life a little easier for the owners of its electric cars. That’s because over 5,000 Electrify America DC fast chargers in the United States have been integrated into the car company’s own smartphone apps.

In other words, Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac EV owners can use the native myChevrolet, myGMC or myCadillac app instead to find chargers, initiate charging and pay for the top-up. Nothing's stopping anyone from using the Electrify America app or PlugShare or something similar, but now, more options can be found in one place on GM's suite of apps.

That’s a small win, but a win nonetheless, especially for those who say it’s frustrating to manage so many charging apps at once.

To find an Electrify America charger, GM EV drivers can go to the Public Charging page in their car app and search for an EA stall. In addition to Electrify America, GM has integrated other charging operators, too, including Ionna and Tesla’s Superchargers. All in all, GM says its EV drivers now have access to more than 250,000 public chargers across the U.S. and Canada.

“As EV travel continues to grow, so does the need for convenient charging experiences,” said Robert Barrosa, CEO and president of Electrify America. “Through this integration, GM EV drivers have more Hyper-Fast chargers to choose from and a seamless experience they can count on nationwide, helping them get to the places that matter.”

The apps provided by General Motors allow owners to find charging stations and see their real-time availability, plan routes with charging stops, monitor a charging session and pay for charging directly in the app.

Last year, GM set a new EV sales record, securing its place as the second largest EV maker in the U.S. The Chevy Equinox EV was the country’s best-selling non-Tesla EV in 2025, doubling its volume compared to 2024.

Meanwhile, Electrify America is not slowing down, despite headwinds in the industry. The company now has 1,116 stations in the U.S., with 5,405 ports open for business, according to the Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center
