Giants’ Daniel Jones turned down Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’

Netflix debuted a brand new docuseries earlier this year, “Quarterback,” which followed three NFL quarterbacks for the entire season.

The NFL partnered with Netflix for the development of the series, giving them unprecedented access, while NFL Films, 2PM Productions, and Omaha Productions produced the series.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota were the focal points of the show. Netflix was also granted additional access to Mahomes away from the field.

The show was a hit among fans and players across the league alike.

Following its wild success, “Quarterback” was renewed for Season 2 but New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, despite being approached, will not be among those appearing. He rejected the offer.

“I’m not,” Jones told WFAN’s Boomer & Gio when asked if he’d appear in Season 2. “I thought it was a great show. I really enjoyed watching it and seeing those three guys — kind of their process and how they prepare. Each of them a little bit different. I thought it was a great show.

“I’m not doing it,” Jones continued. “Yeah, I’ve been asked. Like I said, I think it was a great show and they did a great job with it.”

Jones was pressed on his rejection and asked if the Giants organization had any influence on his decision, but the 26-year-old insisted it was his own personal choice.

Although Jones is modest and comes across as shy, he’s much like Eli Manning was before him. He doesn’t necessarily enjoy the spotlight, he doesn’t have an overly rah-rah personality and he’s focused more strongly on building private friendships with his teammates away from the cameras.

Of course, once Manning retired that all went out the window. He became a media star and allowed his personality to shine for the world to see. Only time will tell if DJ follows that same path but that’s still far down the line.

An offer for Giants fans
