Two Georgia men allegedly broke into an animal shelter earlier this month to retrieve their former dog that was scheduled for euthanasia following a biting incident.

Brothers James, 51, and Donald Spicer, 29, of Macon, reportedly broke into the Jones County Animal Shelter to rescue their dog. The dog had been surrendered and was scheduled to be put down due to a history of aggression, including biting incidents.

The investigation into the break-in led to the duo's arrest on May 20, when they were taken into custody on outstanding warrants for second-degree burglary, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

No additional information has been revealed, including details about the incidents leading up to the dog's impoundment and the dog's current whereabouts.

Both men are currently being held without bond, 13WMAZ reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.
