Gary Neville calls out angry Tottenham pundits who ‘never got near’ Champions League for lack of ‘perspective’

Gary Neville has hit out at former Tottenham players for a lack of “perspective” in their dismay at the current Spurs team.

Following the 1-1 draw with Everton on Monday, Jamie O’Hara and Jermaine Jenas were among the pundits showing their disappointment at the club being on the verge of dropping out of the top four.

However, Manchester United hero Neville was left irked by their demands of Spurs.

“Interesting seeing ex-Spurs players that never got near to Champions League places for years when they played for the club saying they can’t watch this current team now,” he tweeted.

“Spurs are in fourth place currently ahead of Chelsea , Manchester United and Liverpool. Perspective!”

When pulled up by a Tottenham fan claiming it’s “so much more” than trying to finish in the top four, Neville quipped that “it wasn’t last season when you beat Arsenal”.

Jenas, who played in the 2010-11 Champions League for Spurs, posted on social media after the game at Goodison Park that he “can’t watch” the team anymore.

O’Hara, meanwhile, never reached the top four as a Tottenham player and delivered a strong critique of his old team on Monday night.

He told talkSPORT: “What a joke! I'm boiling and I know Spurs fans are absolutely boiling. It was a disgrace that last 15 minutes of that game. They should be ashamed of themselves to be walking into the dressing room at 1-1.

“What an earth are them players doing? [Antonio] Conte came in for a load of stick and how he said what he said and where he said what he said was wrong, but what is 100 per cent correct is this team has no desire, they can't play under pressure.

“They are finished, they've got no character, they're washed as a team. The quicker we get rid of all these bang average players and staff members and team the better Spurs are going to be. That sums up Spurs in a nutshell - what an earth are we doing? I'm sick of being a Spurs fan. I'm sick of it.”
