Four people taken to hospital after helicopter crashes in Welsh woodlands

A large emergency services response has been at the scene of a helicopter crash in north Wales which has seen four people taken to hospital.

Police, firefighters and the ambulance service have all been called to the Llanelidan area, near the town of Ruthin in Denbighshire. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service refused to divulge any detailed information about the crash, but North Wales Police has confirmed that they have attended a wooded area near Llanelidan.

Officers have confirmed that all people onboard have been accounted for, and that four people have been taken to hospital. While the extent of any injuries sustained in the incident have not been revealed, it’s not thought that they are life-threatening.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “We were called at 5.36pm this afternoon (Tuesday) to reports of a helicopter crash in woodland near Llanelidan, Ruthin. Whilst a multiple agency response remains at the scene, the ongoing investigation into the cause will be dealt with by the Civil Aviation Authority.”

Force chief inspector David Cust added: “Officers attended alongside colleagues from Welsh Ambulance and North Wales Fire & Rescue as part of a joint emergency response. All the occupants have been accounted for, with four people having been taken to hospitals across the area. None of the injuries are thought to be life threatening or life changing at this time.”
