Former Nottingham 'Pub of the Year' to become burger restaurant with prices from just £1.50

A local - once crowned the Nottingham Evening Post's Pub of the Year - is to become a burger restaurant.

The Dale Hotel, in Sneinton, closed in 2018 after serving the community for nearly 90 years.

After nearly four years of closure the property is being given a new lease of life as Yum, which also has outlets in Derby and Walsall.

An opening date has yet to be revealed but burger lovers can look forward to a menu with 17 different burgers starting with a classic cheeseburger for £1.50.

As well as beef, there's chicken, fish, halloumi and veggie options to get stuck into.

Stackers, with either two or three patties, include the Big Boss, Peppercorn Pile Up, and Holy Chuck.

At £7, the most expensive, is the Yumbo Jumbo, which comes with a mega beef patty, fried egg, bacon rashers, fried onion, lettuce, tomatoes, gherkins, and Yum sauce.

Diners can also feast on chicken wings, chicken tenders, onion rings, wedges and jalapeno bites and curly fries.

In 2002 The Dale was named the best pub in Nottingham after a public vote, proving that it didn't take fancy food and furnishings to win the support of customers.

Before landlords Ian and Michelle Lord took over it had a reputation for trouble and not having a good range of beers.

They redecorated the 1930s boozer, expanded the number of beers and introduced a weekly guest ale, and brought back bingo, a disco and live music. Through a combination of vigilance and intolerance to troublemakers they created a safer environment.

The freehold, held by Punch Partnerships, was transferred to a private equity company a few months before its closure in October 2018.

Originally a Shipstone's pub, the interior was rated by CAMRA as being of regional importance.

The pub was sold after its closure and in 2019 developers unveiled plans for studio flats on the upper floor.
