Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins was 'tired of the whole game' ahead of his death at 50

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins reportedly felt weary about the touring schedule ahead of his death at 50 years old.

The legendary musician died at the end of March and was found dead in a hotel room in Bogota, Colombia, several hours before he and his band were due to perform.

Investigators said the late star suffered a cardiovascular collapse after binging on a cocktail of drugs, respected Colombian news magazine Semana reported.

Several close sources revealed to Rolling Stone that Hawkins wasn't too sure about going on tour following the coronavirus pandemic.

He also reportedly wasn’t sure he would be able to remain a full-time member if the band continued to tour at their pace of three-hour-long concerts.

The drummer's pal and former boss, Sass Jordan, told Rolling Stone : "Honestly, I think he was just so tired. Tired of the whole game."

His close friend Matt Cameron, who drums for the legendary band Pearl Jam, also discussed how he didn't want to 'do it anymore'.

"He had a heart-to-heart with Dave and, yeah, he told me that he 'couldn’t fucking do it anymore' — those were his words," he said.

A representative for Foo Fighter told the publication that Hawkins never raised any issues with the band or management and claimed there was 'never a heart-to-heart'.

Mirror have also contacted the band's reps.

Cameron later took to his Instagram to admit he is 'truly sorry' for taking part in the interview as his quotes were 'taken out of context and shaped into a narrative I had never intended."

Foo Fighter representatives also stated that Hawkins never expressed any misgivings about the tour schedule.

"The touring schedule had been established and in place for well over a year," they said.

Following his tragic death, the band - which consists of Rami Jaffee, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Dave Grohl - released a statement to confirm that the rest of the tour was cancelled in order for them to grieve and take time to heal.

The rockers had been staying at a hotel in Colombia’s capital Bogota ahead of a gig at the city’s Estereo Picnic festival.

Staff called emergency services after Taylor complained of chest pains but he was dead by the time medics arrived.

In a statement in March, the band said: “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins.

"His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with us forever.”

The rockers were due to play four sold-out dates in the UK in the summer.
