The NotebookLM is getting a new feature called Flashcards. The feature was teased on the platform’s official X account with the line, “Studying is about to get a whole lot easier.”

However, this is not the first time we have seen Flashcards. It was spotted by Testing Catalog last month, which indicates that the Flashcards will appear in the Studio Panel alongside existing Audio and Video Overviews. While the full workflow isn’t clear yet, the feature is expected to automatically generate flashcards from a user’s content, making it easier to study and retain information. This could work in a way similar to QuizGPT found in ChatGPT, but with a NotebookLM twist.
However, this is not the only update from NotebookLM. Recently, the company rolled out Video Overviews in all 80 supported languages, making summarised content more accessible worldwide. Besides, non-English audio overviews also gained new length controls, allowing users to pick between short and default versions for more flexible summaries.
Furthermore, the company has updated its mobile app with customization options for Audio Overviews. It now allows you to select your preferred language, set summary lengths, and even add guiding prompts to tailor responses.
The interesting part is that Simon, who leads NotebookLM, recently teased more updates, hinting, “Buckle up! Going to be quite the week!” So with Flashcards now on the horizon, it looks like NotebookLM is doubling down on making itself a go-to study companion.
