Fans adamant Premier League fixtures confirmed as 'leaked' document goes viral

Fans are adamant that the fixture list for the opening weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season has been confirmed courtesy of a leaked document.

An image of the document showing the apparent 10 games on the opening weekend of the season has gone viral.

The official fixture list is to be revealed on Thursday morning, but fans are convinced the image is real.

The 10 fixtures named as 'matchday 1 of 38' are as follows:

  • Bournemouth vs West Ham
  • Burnley vs Man City
  • Crystal Palace vs Chelsea
  • Everton vs Brentford
  • Fulham vs Arsenal
  • Luton vs Liverpool
  • Man United vs Brighton
  • Sheffield United vs Aston Villa
  • Tottenham vs Newcastle
  • Wolves vs Nottingham Forest

The document itself contains the official Premier League header and has the words 'PRESS EMBARGO: STRICTLY NOT FOR RELEASE BEFORE 09:00 BST 15 JUNE 2023,' plastered across the front page.

However, the authenticity of the document has been called into doubt.

The memo shows Luton Town at home against Liverpool on the first game of the season. A massive tie, but one that may not be possible given the newly promoted side's redevelopment of their stadium.

Work on Kenilworth Road is not expected to be completed in time for the beginning of the season and it has already been suggested by manager Mick Harford that Luton's first few games may have to be played away from home.

"There is a schedule of about 11-12 weeks of work that has got to be done,' Mick Harford told the BBC.

"It might become a bit of a problem, so we will probably have to play maybe two or three games away from home at the start of the Premier League season."

This would seemingly debunk the 'leaked' document as the stadium would not be fit to host a game at this time.

Nevertheless, all will be revealed tomorrow as the fixtures are set to be confirmed on Thursday morning.
