The state-owned Transport Co Ltd has begun a trial operation of special express bus services for Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Phuket, from yesterday to March 8.

The express buses will reduce the number of pickup and drop-off points and provide onboard meals, replacing stops at roadside restaurants. The adjustment allows passengers to arrive at their destinations faster, the company, also known as Bor Kor Sor, said.

For the Bangkok-Chiang Mai route, the regular service takes 11 hours while the express service will take 9 hours and 30 minutes. The regular Bangkok-Phuket route takes 13 hours while the express service takes 12 hours. Details are as follows:

  •   Bangkok-Chiang Mai: The fare is 594 baht, with two round trips per day. Departure time is 8pm at the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak or Mo Chit 2), and the return from the northern province is at 6.30pm at Chiang Mai Bus Terminal.
  •     Bangkok-Phuket: The fare is 1,112 baht, with two round trips per day. Departure time from the Bangkok Bus Terminal is 5.25pm, and the return from Phuket Bus Terminal is at 4.30pm.
