Everton transfer stance on Kamaldeen Sulemana, Viktor Gyokeres and Andre Ayew

Everton’s transfer deadline day search for fresh firepower continues with a trio of names linked with moves to Goodison Park now being ruled out. The ECHO understands that Sean Dyche will not be signing Kamaldeen Sulemana of Rennes, Viktor Gyokeres of Coventry City or free agent Andre Ayew.

Sulemana was a player of interest for Everton and they and Southampton both had a £22million bids accepted for the Ghanaian international winger but reports from France now claim he has chosen to join the Saints. Swedish international Gyokeres has netted 31 goals in 76 games for Championship side Coventry City since joining them on a permanent basis from Brighton & Hove Albion and has been on the Blues radar for several months but a move for him today has been ruled out.

Ayew, 33, like Sulemana, a Ghanaian international winger, who has previous Premier League experience with Swansea City and West Ham United, is out of contract after having his lucrative deal with Qatari club Al Sadd cancelled.

While Everton had always targeted two attacking recruits this month – before the £45million sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United – Kevin Thelwell has so far been unable to get any incoming deals over the line after Tottenham Hotspur hijacked the move for Arnaut Danjuma, leaving the director of football facing a hectic first January deadline day at the club.
