Emmerdale under fire as baffled fans spot problem with Dawn Taylor's betrayal twist

Emmerdale fans were quick to spot a problem as Dawn Taylor double-crossed Alex Moore in tonight's episode.

Wednesday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore Dawn and Billy Fletcher's attempts to adopt Lucas. The married couple's bid to become the legal guardians of Dawn's son have been rocked by his biological dad.

Alex accepted the adoption proposal under the condition that Dawn helped him out of his financial difficulties as he is once again in debt to drug dealers. Dawn started the latest show by trying to break into the safe at Home Farm, but she was caught red-handed by Kim Tate.

Kim decided to loan Dawn the money to help Alex out of his situation, but she didn't borrow enough to clear his debts. This prompted Dawn to accompany him on a meeting with his drug dealer, but it came to a swift end when the police swooped in and arrested the three.

However, Dawn was released at the end of the episode as she had secretly betrayed Alex and recorded the meeting to ensure he would be jailed.

Fans following the show on Twitter were baffled at how Dawn knew the amount of money she should take to the initial meeting with Alex since she didn't question how much he owed.

Wini said: "So Dawn didn’t think to ask Alex how much he actually owed?! Christ!"

Lisa commented: "What are the scriptwriters on #emmerdale thinking? Dawn would have asked how much money was owing, not just guess? The characters on #emmerdale are being portrayed as stupid :("

Kwamz posted : "Did she even say how much he wanted?!? #Emmerdale Kim got cash for days"

Chris said: "Would it not be better asking how much he actually owes lol"

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV and ITV Hub
