Edinburgh to host Top Gun: Maverick premiere days before official release

An Edinburgh cinema is set to host an exclusive premiere of the latest Top Gun: Maverick film this month.

With the Hollywood blockbuster set for release in the coming weeks, Cineworld at Fountainpark will be giving locals a first look six days early.

Premiering on May 19, the action-packed film starring Tom Cruise will see Edinburgh as one of 10 locations around the UK to screen it six days early.

With the event going ahead in a few weeks time, Cineworld have announced that they will be inviting a number of locals to the red carpet for free.

In a giveaway, the cinema have asked locals to tell them why they are the 'best at what they do' and to give a shout out to the 'Goose in their life.'

The 'Wingman' competition will see 10 pairs of tickets given out across the city, with the winners invited along to watch the blockbuster premiere.

Speaking about the event, Jamie Wiles, General Manager of Cineworld Edinburgh said:We’re getting ready to take to the skies like never before with the return of Top Gun to the big screen.

"It’s an honour to offer the people of Edinburgh the chance to see the film early in IMAX as well as having the proceeds of the event go to such a great cause.”

To be in with a chance of winning, entrants will need to:

  1. Post a picture of you and your #wingman to Facebook

  2. Tell us why you are the best of the best

  3. Nominate your #wingman and tell us how they supported you

  4. Tag Cineworld Edinburgh and use the hashtag #IMAX
