Eddie Howe has described Anthony Gordon as a 'top talent' following the attacker’s move to Newcastle United from Everton.
After days of speculation, Gordon’s move to St James' Park was confirmed on Sunday afternoon. The England under-21 international had been on Tyneside over the weekend to complete his medical and put pen-to-paper on his deal.
Gordon, whose fee could rise to £45m with add-ons, was allowed to leave Goodison Park after submitting a transfer request and missing three days of training last week. Only the first of those days was described as a 'planned absence' by the club.

The attacker, who also attracted interest from Chelsea last summer, scored seven goals in 78 games for Everton and is their joint top scorer in the Premier League this season, with three. He will not be eligible to play in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Southampton on Tuesday night, but could make his debut against West Ham United next Saturday.
Gordon’s arrival takes Newcastle’s spending since their takeover in October 2021 to around £250m, and speaking after the signing was confirmed, Magpies boss Howe revealed he is looking forward to watching the 21-year-old, who has penned a long-term deal at St. James' Park, develop.
He said: "I'm delighted to sign Anthony - he's a top, top talent. I'm really excited to work with him, to develop him, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in a Newcastle shirt."
