Eddie House: Celtics’ Payton Pritchard proving himself a threat, leader on the second unit

In a preseason matchup between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks, the focus shifted to the bench depth of both teams in the second half of the exhibition tilt.

Newly extended reserve guard Payton Pritchard emerged as a key player for the Celtics with his first-half play, showing his potential as a leader of the ball club’s second unit in Boston’s campaign to come. The Oregon alum’s game vs. New York on Monday night included 21 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, highlighting his ability to contribute on both ends of the floor for the Celtics, and helping to validate the significant investment the team made in him earlier in the week.
