EastEnders' Slater sisters now as Jessie Wallace accepts caution after 'cop attack'

The Slater sisters are barely recognisable from the fresh-faced young women who exploded onto our screens on EastEnders in the early 2000s.

Landing in Albert Square in 2000 the original four sisters were Lynne, played by Elaine Lordan, Maureen (Little Mo), played by Kacey Ainsworth, Zoe, played by Michelle Ryan and Kat, played by Jessie Wallace .

The sisters were brought up by their dad Charlie (Derek Martin) and their battleaxe grandmother was Mo, played in all her angry glory by Laila Morse.

From the second they arrived the Slater clan have been involved in some of the most harrowing, explosive and downright dramatic storylines EastEnders has ever aired.

Kat revealing she was 'sister' Zoe's mum in an iconic scene where the youngest Slater screamed 'you ain't my muvva' across the Square before Kat screeched back 'yes I am' has gone down in soap history.

Fans were stunned to watch as it was revealed Jessie’s character Kat let slip that her sister Zoe (Michelle Ryan) was actually her daughter after she was raped by her uncle Harry (Michael Elphick) as a child.

Fast forward a few years and Kat and her husband, Alfie, were involved in a traumatic baby swap storyline with Ronnie Mitchell.

And there wasn't a dry eye in the house when Charlie Slater died in daughter Kat's arms during his final appearance in 2016.

The Mirror Online has delved into the actresses lives away from the cameras and taken a look at where they are now.

Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace)

Jessie Wallace continued working in soapland, even when the Slater family dwindled from London and has starred on the popular BBC1 soap on and off since 2000.

She was dramatically suspended from the BBC soap early 2020 after being accused of being drunk on set. She was written out of scenes for two months after an “incident while filming”.

It was the second time her partying has got her into trouble with BBC bosses.

Back in the 2000s, she was previously suspended from the show, and then in 2003, she was convicted on a drink-driving charge.

In 2018 she was sent home from the British Soap Awards for being tipsy.

The star has found herself in a spot more bother recently as she accepted a conditional caution after she was accused of assaulting a police officer and drunk and disorderly conduct this weekend outside a nightclub in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The actress, 50, was conditionally cautioned for the incident outside the Verve nightclub in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, at around 2am on Sunday.

A police spokesman confirmed that a 50-year-old woman was cautioned after being held on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and drunk and disorderly conduct.

A source said the star was accompanied by a man when she was held by three officers after becoming abusive.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “A 50-year-old woman was arrested early on Sunday morning in St Andrew’s Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer / drunk and disorderly conduct and was released without charge after receiving a conditional caution.”

To accept a conditional caution a suspect must sign a document confirming an admission to the offence along with details of what they did.

Jessie shares daughter Tallulah, 17, with her ex-partner Dave Morgan but the couple split shortly after she was born.

Jessie began dating the policeman in 2003 after Dave accompanied her in court where she was appearing on a drink and drive charge.

Tallulah has rarely been pictured but welcomed a baby boy earlier this year, making Jessie a grandmother at 50.

Jessie has enjoyed a colourful love-life over the years, with moments that could have be written for a soap.

Jessie was dating Majorca-based millionaire Paul Whitworth – once jailed for fraud – when she was cast in the BBC soap in 2000.

The pair split as she rose to fame and she went on to have a fling with American Andy Burton.

He later embarrassed her with kiss-and-tell revelations.

Jessie also dated policeman Dave Morgan, who she met after being arrested for drink-driving in 2003.

They moved in together but split shortly after their daughter Tallulah, now 17, was born.

Jessie planned to marry catering boss Vince Morse in 2011.

But she called off their reported £300,000 wedding just hours before they were due to tie the knot after finding out he had sent explicit photos of her to his ex-girlfriend.

And in 2016, Jessie split from musician Tim Arnold after a four-year romance.

Following that, she was with father-of-five Paul Kempin, but the pair called it a day in 2019 after two years together.

Her most recent relationship is said to be with her builder who she booked for a job and fell in love with, according to pals.

Jessie and the builder have been friends for 34 years and have been a couple for the last 12 months.

Friends told us in May, the tradesman has laid the foundations for a long-term union by moving in after just a matter of weeks, following a romantic holiday abroad.

Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan)

Teenager Zoe, played by Michelle Ryan, was at the centre of some of the most dramatic storylines involving the Slater clan.

As the baby sister, the elder girls were always very protective of the teenager and tried to shield her from having her heart broken.

But like the rest of her siblings, Zoe seemed to attract trouble wherever she went and eventually decided she'd had enough of life on the Square and was moving to Spain with her 'uncle' Harry.

It was then that Kat dropped the bombshell that she was, in fact, Zoe's mother and not her big sister as she had been led to believe her whole life.

Evil Harry had raped Kat when she was still a teenager and the result was baby Zoe. Kat's parents decided to bring Zoe up as their daughter and the big reveal has become one of the most iconic in the soap's history.

Sadly, this wasn't the end of Zoe's heartbreak as in 2005 she was framed for Den Watt's murder by his estranged wife, Chrissie ad she was forced to flee to Ibiza.

Since leaving the Square, Michelle has forged a successful career on both the stage and screen - and even starred in several big US shows.

She has starred in Doctor Who, Mansfield Park, Miss Marple and Merlin in the UK. The 37-year-old also landed the starring role of Jaime Sommers in the Bionic Woman.

The show was cancelled after just one series but since then she has continued to win roles in both films and TV.

In 2010, she starred in thriller Cleanskin, and comedy film Huge, which was directed by Ben Miller, alongside Noel Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Tamsin Egerton.

In 2011, Michelle played Helena from A Midsummer Night's Dream in the BBC Learning project, Off By Heart Shakespeare.

Michelle also appeared in Cockneys vs Zombies, a comedy horror film about a team of bank robbers fighting the undead in 2012.

Also in 2012, Michelle toured with Will Young in a production of Cabaret which played in London's West End.

But if any fans were hoping Michelle would rejoin EastEnders, they will be disappointed as Michelle says there's no chance.

"I just got quite bored in the end, to be honest," she admitted.

Little Mo Mitchell (Kacey Ainsworth)

Little Mo, played by Kacey Ainsworth, was the quietest Slater sister and often struggled with her sisters' boisterous behaviour.

She was at the centre of some of the most harrowing storylines in the soap's history but finally seemed to have found happiness with Billy Mitchell.

However, her happy ending was not to be when she was raped by Graham Taylor and found out she was pregnant with his child.

Little Mo eventually made the decision to leave Walford and moved to Barnstable in 2006.

Kacey's career has gone from strength-to-strength since leaving the Square and she has appeared in The Bill and had a leading role in a second police drama, Holby Blue.

Kacey, who has swapped her brunette locks for a blonde bob, has also appeared in Casualty, Grantchester and The Worst Witch.

She won huge praise for her role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre.

Lynne Hobbs (Elaine Lordan)

Lynne, played by Elaine Lordan, arrived on the Square as one of the original members of the Slater clan.

She was the first Slater sister to depart EastEnders after her marriage to Garry Hobbs fell apart in 2004.

The year after she left the soap, Elaine went to the jungle for I'm A Celebrity but only lasted a day after she passed out twice.

She also appeared on Soapstar Superstar in 2007 but was the first celeb to the voted out.

Elaine has also battled tragedy in her personal life after marrying husband, Peter Manuel, in 2005 when their baby son died when he was just a few days old.

The tot had needed surgery for a diaphragmatic hernia and he died just nine months after Elaine's mum, Bernie, had taken her own life.

Two years later, Elaine and her husband were expecting another baby but she suffered a miscarriage and just 12 months later she lost her father.

Her poignant autobiography, Whatever It Takes: A Story of Family Survival, detailed her heartbreaking ordeal and was published in 2008.

Now 55, Elaine made the decision shortly afterwards to bow out of public life.
